Cumberland River Compact Fishing Event (2003)
The Cumberland River Compact hosted a fishing event for
kids on Watauga Lake (Centennial Park’s Lake) on September 20th. Kids fished for catfish following a massive
stocking. Cumberland Chapter of Trout
Unlimited and MTFF recruited volunteers to help set up prior to the event and
then clean up afterwards. We had
volunteers to help set-up Saturday Morning and then a second shift to help
clean-up that afternoon. Fun was had by all who volunteered or participated in
this event. They had two separate tournaments
the kids fished in the morning and then the adults got there turn in the
afternoon. If you ever have a chance
to help with event of this nature, I would highly recommend it. It’s really enjoyable to see the kids (and
parents) having such a great time.

(HRWA) March 15th, 2003 - Little Harpeth River at Warner Park
The MTFF Club along with other local organizations worked with
Harpeth River Watershed Association on one of their riparian zone restoration
projects. We met the morning of the March 15th at Edwin Warner Park. The
group planted all different types of vegetation along with developing two
river access points at shelter #11. Harpeth River Watershed Association
really appreciated everyone’s effort and I would like to thank everyone who turned
out. The Harpeth River Watershed Association will be scheduling more of these
projects starting again in November. Please watch the newsletter and web page
for more details
