White River Outing, Oct 15-17, 2009 (9 Photos) About 13 MTFF Club memebers - and I think a few guests - attended the outing. And even though the White was tough to fish, some were able to do well with the aid of a boat. The others took fair game on the Norfork. Way to go guys.

Elk River Clean-up - February 20, 2010 (19 Photos) Another conservation effort by the MTFF. This was our annual Elk River Clean-up project, taking place on February 20, 2010.
Rod Building Class - March 2010 (15 Photos) March 6, 2010 - Ray Alley gives instruction during the first hands-on session of the rod building class where the students began assembling their fly rods.
Elk River Outing - February 2010 (7 Photos) February 20, 2010 - After a few of hours of work at the clean-up, most members in attendance took advantage of the fantastic weather and the low water level to fish the Elk for a while, making it a fun outdoor day that had been long overdue.
MTFF Soccer Team - Spring 2010 (6 Photos) In an effort to introduce more young people to the sport of fly fishing, MTFF has sponsored a Harpeth Youth Soccer Association team, which plays its games right next to the Harpeth River. Check out the kids in action!
Watauga & South Holston Outing - April 2010 (46 Photos) April 15- 17, 2010 - The Watauga River is well known for it’s Caddis and Sulphur hatches. Every year MTFF members try time this outing with the often spectacular April Caddis hatch. Well, we missed the famous caddis hatch again, but there were still a lot of fish caught and we had a good time. We also vetured over to the South Holson and a few even headed into the mountains. Tommy cooked up the hamburgers and hot dogs for the big Saturday night meal. We had several days of gorgeous weather for this one as well.
Cherokee, NC Outing - May 2010 (61 Photos) A few members gathered in Cherokee, NC May 14-16, 2010 to test the waters of western North Carolina. This area has everything to offer from small rivers like the Oconolufte and Tuckasegee, to high mountain streams like Deep Creek and Hazel Creek, and of course, the North Carolina side of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. So many fish were caught on this trip they couldn't keep count!
Troutfest 2010 (15 Photos) After the Cherokee, NC outing several members took the opportunity to go by Troutfest 2010. Dick, Bo, and Bryson Storie were there helping the vendors set up their displays. Saturday morning, Lefty Kreh demonstrated casting with Bo and Bryson, both getting to work with Lefty individually. After a few minutes of instruction on the double haul, Lefty said to Bryson, “Do this any better and I’ll take you on tour with me!” Bryson also demonstrated his fly tying on Sunday, stirring up quite a bit of interest. Joe Humphreys came by and actually used a stonefly he tied for a casting demonstration. Joe was very kind and complimentary of Bryson’s work. What a great time learning knots and lots of new jokes form Lefty and the other legends of fly fishing.
GSMNP Outing - June 2010 (158 Photos) June 9-13, 2010 - The Great Smoky Mountain National Park offers a wide variety of mountain fishing, from browns and rainbows at the lower elevations to wild brook trout in the higher mountain streams. On this outing eleven MTFF members enjoyed a little of it all. The fishing was good, the weather was mild, and we fired up a few cast iron dutch ovens on Saturday night for another excellent feast.
Introduction to Fly Fishing Class - June 27, 2010 (26 Photos) Jeff Barrett and Chuck Robinson did an absolutely fabulous job tag-teaming the delivery of information to what was probably the newest and least experienced group of participants to date. Without a doubt, there was a wealth of information being transferred and absorbed.
Cast Iron Cooking Class - July 2010 (48 Photos) July 14 & 17, 2010 - Four new cookers, several past students, and a few veteran cast iron cookers provided a huge feast for 52 members and their families Saturday night at the July 2010 Caney Fork River outing. This event is an annual favorite that just keeps getting bigger every year.
Caney Fork River Outing - July 2010 (0 Photos) This outing, held July 16-18, 2010, on our home waters is always a club favorite. Saturday turned out to be a wonderful day of fishing for all. One of the reasons for this outings popularity is the Cast Iron Cooking Class cookout held on Saturday night. We set a new record, with 52 people at the cookout.
North River Outing - March 2010 (72 Photos) March 24-28, 2010 - This is one of the club's favorite outings. Despite some soggy weather, we still managed to catch several fish, enjoy a few campfires, and as always, stuff ourselves at the Saturday night cast iron potluck cookout.

Watauga / South Holston Outing April 2009 (38 Photos) Here are some pics from our annual Watauga & S. Holston trip we take in April. We missed the famous caddis hatch but there were still a lot of fish caught and we had a good time. David and Donna cooked up hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone on Saturday night. The weather was great! maybe even a little warm but at least no rain to speak of.
Caney Fork Outing May 2009 (20 Photos) It says a lot about a fishing club when there's 0% chance the river will be fishable and you still have a great turnout! The river was up into the trees but that didn't stop about 30 members from having good time enjoying good food and company. A few of the members did take the opportunity to fish the lake a little bit and got into some good bream fishing.
Great Smoky Mountains Nat Park - July 2009 (43 Photos) We couldn't have asked for better weather and of course, as always, the company was good. The fishing may have been a little slower than normal but there were still fishing willing to take a fly.
